Remote evaluation and lessons - Digital expertise assisted Learning UKDHC - The Real Deal

This gives you an opportunity to self-assess your own Digital Skills and Competencies at present, and our certificate will guide you to ways you can improve your skills.

Digital capabilities are the skills, knowledge and understanding which help us to live, learn and work in a digital society. They help us to use a variety of technologies, appropriately and effectively in different spaces, places and situations.

Employers are increasingly looking at what digital capabilities applicants and employees have. Skills in creating documents, presentations, spreadsheets and communicating via email and social media are areas which are important to most organisations. They want people to use technologies to access information, be creative, innovative, solve problems, communicate, participate, learn and support others in digital spaces.

To help you reflect on your digital capabilities, we’ve created a series of short self assessments to help you identify strengths and discover potential areas to develop based on the  NHS Health and Care Digital Capabilities Framework.

These are based on all the skills you may need at different points throughout your working life and beyond.

Some questions might feel familiar and some will be a completely new area for you. What’s important is that there are no right or wrong answers – these are reflective questions for you.

When you submit the assessment you’ll get an immediate score and some links to resources to help you develop your skills. The resource lists aren’t exhaustive but provide a good starting point.

You may take the assessments as often as you wish.

UKDHC is committed to supporting all health and social care staff in up-skilling their digital competencies.

In 2025 we will be providing free assessments and
courses to help those in the workplace provide a better service for their patients and clients.

From February 2025 UKDHC with the University of Central Lancashire and Think Employment will be supporting both the NHS and the Social Care sector by providing on-line free assessments of Digital Competency for front-line health and care workers.

This educational package will be sponsored and supported by Buddy HealthCare (www.buddyhealthcare.com/en/).

How will the REAL DEAL work?

Any NHS or Care employee will be able to link to our Assessment Programme from home and carry out their own “self-assessment” online.

This will be completely confidential, and they will be provided with a digitally validated PDF report about their assessed digital competence.

They can use this in any way they wish – they can put it in the dustbin, file it, or take it to their employer and ask for help with improving their digital skills training.

UKDHC will also be providing signposts to where further digital skills training can be obtained and whether it is available free.

We believe every front-line worker wants to become better at delivering their care and we believe this is the way that UKDHC can help them. In addition, with the support of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), UKDHC will be providing one free online module in Digital Skills Training from the UCLan postgraduate Health Informatics courses.
