The UK has a group of vibrant innovators who have been developing apps for the benefit of health and social care in the UK. The challenge is validating the apps for the NHS without incurring huge expense and then getting the commercial directorate of NHS England (and the other devolved nations) to purchase the apps without having to jump through all the hurdles provided by the NHS purchasers.

Speakers

Marcus Baw is a GP, clinical informatician and software developer based in Yorkshire. He is an advocate of open source software and open standards for healthcare. He has been occasionally constructively outspoken on health technology subjects.

Ameet Bakhai is a consultant cardiologist and clinical research director at Royal Free London NHS Trust, as well as a Harvard Scholar and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. A founder of two companies and published author of over 100 papers, he is a leader in cardiac care, clinical trials and health innovation.

Matt Jaggard is a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specializing in soft tissue knee reconstruction and complex lower limb trauma. A Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, he co-founded DocComs to enhance healthcare communication and data security.
