An Introduction to Health Informatics
Every single person working in healthcare works with data on a daily basis!
Designed by Jane Fitzgerald, Course Leader for Health Informatics at the University of Central Lancashire and sponsored by the University of Central Lancashire as well as Buddy Healthcare, this module is a broad overview of how and why we collect, store, manage and use data to improve patient care.
It is not going to tell you everything – after all Health Informatics is a huge and wide-ranging area of healthcare – but it will help you understand why it is important, the key takeaways you need to know, and how you can play your part within it.
This byte-size module should take 1-2 hours to complete, but you do not have to complete it all in one go!
By the end of this byte-size module, you will know:
- What information is and how we use it
- The importance of coding and precision
- What the Electronic Health Record (EHR) is and why interoperability is important
- How to protect and share data safely
- How we use data analytics
- How telemedicine is changing how we do healthcare
